On Wednesday, September 19th, 2012, the great saxophonist George Garzone will take to The Beehive’s stage for an ultimate birthday tribute to one of the greatest jazz musicians known to man, John Coltrane. In celebration of Garzone’s and what would be Coltrane’s 85th birthday on September 23rd, The Beehive located in Boston, MA will host an evening of exceptional performance as Garzone and a lineup of heavy players to the stage for a birthday bash that the likes of Boston has yet to see.
Known for his innovative three-on-one chord approach and the sense of freedom ingrained in his expressive music, John Coltrane has had an impact on all jazz music to date, and that of Boston-based saxophonist George Garzone is no exception. Coltrane, a Grammy award-winning artist and recipient of The Recording Academy’s highest honors “the Lifetime Achievement Award,” truly believed that his music could influence positive thoughts and ignite a change in the world, and his legacy continues on in music today.
Join The Beehive and local legend George Garzone accompanied by some of Boston’s Best musicians including Phil Grenadier on trumpet, John Lockwood on bass, Tim Ray on keys, and of course, the spirit Coltrane for this one night only tribute performance.
