Have You Seen Signs Of A Drug Problem In The South End?
Patch columnist and South End resident John Keith says Boston has a drug epidemic and Congressman Stephen Lynch has brought the DEA to Southie for backup, but we're wondering if you see a problem, as well.
"You see the effects of drug and alcohol addiction on the Boston Common, in Blackstone Square, in Copley and Andrew squares, at North Station, inside the Boston Public Library, in Downtown Crossing, at South Station, outside the Pine Street Inn and Saint Francis House, and at every Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts, CVS, and 7-Eleven," said in his latest column.
He saw the effects at least once before, too, when in Copley Square that police failed to respond to.
Representative Stephen Lynch sees the effects of drug addiction in Southie, where, according to this Herald article, he's brought the Drug Enforcement Administration to "track shipments to the area" and "pursue leads outside of Massachusetts to stem the flow of drugs into South Boston."
