Boston Announces 'Adopt-a-Hydrant' Program

Are you ready to become a public works parent?

The City of Boston is unveiling a new "Adopt-a-Hydrant" program to keep fire hydrants clear of snow, the Boston Globe reports.

Individual residents can go online to the City's Adopt-a-Hydrant site, pick an un-adopted hydrant to take responsibility for clearing the snow off of, and even name that hydrant.

South End residents and workers, are you ready for this responsibility?  And what are you going to name your hydrant-child?  So far there are plenty of South End hydrants up for grabs -- this could be your chance to build a hydrant-family.
