Participants Needed for a Study about Heat in the South End

I am a student at Boston University conducting a study about summer heat in Boston for my senior thesis.  The purpose of this research is to measure temperatures in Boston as they are actually experienced by people.  You may be eligible for this study if you live in the South End in market rate housing, private subsidized housing, public housing, or if you who receive rental assistance such as Section 8.  Note: it does not matter whether you spend the majority of your time indoors or outdoors.

If you take part in this 1-week study, you would be asked to carry a small temperature sensor with you and fill out short daily surveys about how hot your day was.  In addition, you may be asked to take part in a 30-minute interview at the end of the week about your experience with heat in Boston.  A compensation of a $15 gift card will be provided for your participation.

If you are interested in participating or have any questions about the study, please email Evan Kuras at erkuras@bu.edu or call 914.960.2919.  My study is supervised by Dr. Brown-Saracino (Boston University, Sociology Department) and she can be contacted at japonica@bu.edu
