Gerald Finley, bass baritone
On February 7th, the Celebrity Series of Boston will present acclaimed bass-baritone Gerald Finley at NEC's Jordan Hall. Praised for his portrayals on the operatic stage, Finley brings his glorious voice and dramatic incisiveness to Shubert’s immortal song cycle, Winterreise.
Canadian baritone Gerald Finley began singing as a chorister in Ottawa before completing his musical studies in the UK at the Royal College of Music, King’s College, Cambridge, and the National Opera Studio. In opera, Mr. Finley has sung all the major baritone roles of Mozart. His Don Giovanni has been seen in New York, London, Paris, Rome, Vienna, Prague, Tel Aviv, Glyndebourne and Budapest, and recently at the festivals of Salzburg and Munich. In recent seasons, he has premiered new works including the late Peter Lieberson's Songs of Love and Sorrow with the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
