February School Vacation Week at Faneuil Hall Marketplace

Faneuil Hall Marketplace announced today it will be hosting a fun-filled week of free activities for kids and families during School Vacation Week.  From February 15th to February 22nd the Marketplace will present eight activities full of fun and entertainment, perfect for any age. Faneuil Hall Marketplace will also be running its Half Off at the Hall promotion during the month of February and March, so make sure to stop by the Food Colonnade located at Quincy Market or participating restaurants after the shows for great prices on your favorite treats!

 

“Parents are always looking for fun ways to engage their kids during the school break,” said Carol Troxell, President of the Faneuil Hall Merchants Association. “Faneuil Hall Marketplace is excited to offer these great family events that are educational, fun and FREE! Each day a different event will be hosted at Quincy Market including Yo-Yo Painting, interactive storytelling and so much more. ”

Saturday, February 15th and Saturday February 22nd - I HAVE A DREAM

11am-12 pm at Quincy’s Place in Quincy Market

The School Vacation Week events kick off and ends with “I HAVE A DREAM.” Join Citi Performing Arts Center's Education Department during February School Vacation Week on February 15 and 22  at Quincy’s Place for interactive readings of Kadir Nelson’s “I Have A Dream” picture book inspired by the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  The free Interactive Readings: Stories Alive! will be performed by Citi Center’s Teaching Artist Toni Bee. All attendees receive take-home activities and will have an opportunity to win a copy of Nelson’s book.  No registration is necessary. Monday, February 17th- Yo-Yo Painting and Tricks with John Higby

10am in the Upper Rotunda of Quincy Market

Faneuil Hall will feature Yo-Yo-Painting and tricks by John Higby. Watch the World Yo-Yo Champion perform his unique blend of comedy, painting and old school yo-yo tricks. Mix 104.1 Street Team will also be on hand with a prize wheel for kids to spin for exciting prizes. 

 

Tuesday, February 18th and Thursday, February 20th – Paris, the Hip-Hop Juggler, courtesy of the Big Apple Circus

10 am to 12 pm in the Upper Rotunda of Quincy Market

Paris, given the nickname "The Hip-Hop Juggler" by Al Roker himself, has been dazzling audiences with his brand of juggling for over a decade. He has appeared at the Big Apple Circus, The Today Show, Sesame Street, and the White House to name a few. Paris has gained critical acclaim for his juggling instruction, teaching hundreds at conventions, universities, and corporations. He has just completed his 6th year of teaching juggling with the Big Apple Circus and has taught over 1,000 people how to juggle. We bet he can teach you too! Paris will teach kids in groups of five how to juggle.

 

Wednesday February 19th -Children’s Entertainment with Jason Escape

10 am to 12 pm in the Upper Rotunda

Escape Artist and Magician, Jason Escape, will captivate the audience with his magic tricks and exciting escapes.

 

Thursday, February 20th – Face Painting with KiKi of Kiki’s Creations

10 am to 12 pm in the Upper Rotunda of Quincy Market

Kiki of Kiki’s Creations aims to please every child (or adult), and guarantees everyone will be looking scary, magical, funny or beautiful by the time their face creation is complete!

 

Saturday, February 22nd –Jukebox Dancers

Noon in the West End

The Jukebox Dancers are a high-energy group from Boston consisting of both dancers and vocalists.  With over 15 years of experience, the group has been featured at several locations including the Norwegian Cruise Line, Downtown Disney in Florida and most recently at the Blink! Tree Lighting Ceremony at Faneuil Hall Marketplace. Participating audience members will have the chance to win four food vouchers for the Quincy Market Food Colonnade.
