City Councilor Bill Linehan Steps Up to Plate with World Series Wager

BOSTON – Absent a friendly World Series wager between Boston Mayor Tom Menino and St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay, Boston City Councilor Bill Linehan (District 2) and St. Louis Alderman Christine Ingrassia (6th Ward) have thrown their baseball caps in the ring to show their pride for their hometown teams.

Councilor Linehan, a die-hard Red Sox fan, is promising a World Series win and has put his beloved Southie where his mouth is.  Linehan is wagering the following:

· A six-pack of Harpoon Octoberfest (Seaport District)

· Linehan will wear St. Louis Cardinals gear at the next Boston City Council Meeting

Alderman Ingrassia, a devoted baseball fan who bleeds Cardinal red, has countered Linehan’s wager with the following items from her St. Louis neighborhood:

· A six-pack of beer from 6th Ward brewery Schafly

· An order of Toasted Ravioli from 6th Ward restaurant Ricardo’s

· A Smokehouse Specialty Item from 6th Ward restaurant The Shaved Duck

· Ingrassia will wear Red Sox gear at the November 1st St. Louis Alderman meeting

“Alderman Ingrassia is a great sport,” said Councilor Linehan.  “I can’t wait to see a photo of her wearing a Red Sox cap in St. Louis after Boston takes home the World Series trophy for the third time since 2004.  We beat the Cards once on the big stage and we’ll do it again, this time with full beards.”

“Sox players will need a good barber and Councilor Linehan will look good in a St. Louis cap once the Cardinals bring the World Series trophy back to our city where it belongs,” countered Alderman Ingrassia.

Game 2 of the 2013 MLB World Series is scheduled for tonight at 8:07 pm at Fenway Park.
