City Councilor Bill Linehan Bests St. Louis Rival in World Series Wager

BOSTON – St. Louis Alderman Christine Ingrassia (6th Ward) is fitting herself for a Boston Red Sox cap which she'll have to wear in front of her colleagues at tomorrow's scheduled Alderman Meeting in St. Louis.  Ingrassia has found herself on the losing side of a friendly bet with Boston City Councilor Bill Linehan (District 2) after Linehan's home town team captured its 8th World Championship last night, the first at storied Fenway Park since 1918.  Had St. Louis won the series, Linehan would have been forced into Cardinal red for his next City Council Meeting.

"To the victor goes the spoils," smiled Linehan.  "I feel for Alderman Ingrassia, who has to wear Red Sox gear in a room filled with Cardinals fans.  She was very gracious and a heck of a good sport to join me in this wager.  The World Series win couldn't have come at a better time for our city and it's a great chance to celebrate the incredible accomplishment of the Red Sox and the fans who have been waiting 95 years to see their team win it all at Fenway Park.  We look forward to receiving those tasty dishes from Alderman Ingrassia’s neighborhood."

As part of the wager, Linehan will also receive the following items from Ingrassia's home district:

"I love my Cardinals but I tip my cap to the Red Sox and their fans today," Alderman Ingrassia said.  "It was a thrilling series and I know our team will be back next year to win it all.  Please tell Councilor Linehan to keep that St. Louis cap handy."
