VIDEO: Suzanne Lee Hosts South End Fundraiser

Lee is running for District 2 City Council.

A crowd of supporters gathered at last week during a campaign fundraiser for city council hopeful Suzanne Lee, a former Boston Public School principal with over 35 years of experience in education.

Former mayoral candidate Mel King introduced Lee, a resident of Chinatown.

“I’m a believer that the most important work that anyone can do is that which is in the best interest of children," King said during his introduction. "Suzanne has the experience to move Boston’s school system forward so that every school can be one that we want to send our children to.”

Lee, who helped turn around the Josiah Quincy School, said the city needs to focus on preparing local students for college.

“Boston has the best colleges and universities in the world, but how many of our children get to go to them?" she said. "We need to really work to build a pipeline from our public schools to these world-class colleges and universities."
