Veuve Fourny & Fils "Cuveé R"
Here's a gift recommendation for the Champagne lover on your list who loves trying new things and wants a special bottle in his or her stocking. Veuve Fourny & Fils "Cuveé R" from Vertus, France, is available at The Urban Grape South End, (303 Columbus Ave.) Unlike that other Veuve, which is found on every retail shelf, this Champagne made by a co-op of growers in France is something new and different. Made from chardonnay, and blended with a touch of Pinot Noir for depth, this cuveé is aged for four years before being brought to market. It's opulent, and full of flavor, but despite active bubbles, it's somehow mellow and approachable. A truly fantastic tasting experience, and, at $68, a reasonable price for a grower's Champagne.

All items in the above photo gallery can be purchased right here in the South End, saving you time and hassle from leaving the neighborhood to shop for your friends and family, and supporting local businesses at the same time.

Not-so-coincidentally, Wednesday Dec. 12 is the 4th Annual South End Holiday Shopping Night from 4-8 p.m. Shop at any of the participating businesses you will get a coupon for $10 off a participating restaurant, and everytime you dine at one of those restaurants, you get a coupon for 10 percent off at participating stores.
