Cops Foil Attempted Break-In, Collar Level 2 Sex Offender

Police arrested two men—a level 2 sex offender, and an individual dressed as a mailman—after responding to a report of an attempted B&E in progress on Marlborough Street.

A drug user dressed as a letter carrier was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property, and his accomplice—a registered level 2 sex offender—was charged with breaking and entering and receiving stolen property yesterday, according to police.

According to a story on BPDNews.com, officers from Area D-4 responded to a call for a breaking and entering in progress in the vicinity of Marlborough Street around 3:58 p.m. yesterday afternoon, and while en route, were advised that an unknown male had allegedly entered a home stating he was a mailman.

Upon arrival, police observed an individual matching the suspect description near 339 Marlborough St. The man told officers he was helping a friend deliver mail in the area. Officers then observed a second individual wearing a US Postal Service uniform, and, upon questioning him, were told that the suspect was helping him deliver mail.

According to police, officers on the scene determined both men appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

Police spoke with the female victim—who was home with several children—and she reported hearing noises in the front of the house. The victim said she heard someone yell, and then observed the suspect with mail in his hand.

According to BPDNews.com, the suspect stated “I have your mail.” The victim told police that she responded by telling the suspect he was not her mailman, after which he handed over her mail and left the property.

Police then conducted a “pat-frisk” search and observed a hypodermic needle on the uniformed individual—hardly standard equipment for a legitimate letter carrier. Officers also saw an open package in plain view inside the mail bag, and determined that the contents of the package—a cell phone, belonging to another individual—was missing. The phone was located in the front shirt pocket of the uniformed suspect.

The suspect stated to police that he had taken the phone from the package.

Police arrested David Wilson, 38, of East Boston for receiving stolen property, and David Morales, 39, of Boston—a registered level 2 sex offender—for breaking and entering and receiving stolen property.
