Why Go: So FYI, Cinco de Mayo celebrates the Mexican army’s unlikely victory over the French in 1862 and not Mexico’s Independence Day (that’s September 16). MOMMIE ‘N ME POLE DANCING CLASS

BYE BYE BALLOON CHILDREN’S BOOK SIGNING
Where/When: Sean Boyce Studios, Saturday, 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Why Go: Written by New England Author Ryan SanAngelo (you might be familiar with his Spaghetti Eddie) and illustrated by Boston artist Sean Boyce, Bye Bye Balloon chronicles the world travels of a courageous balloon through Boyce’s vibrant oil paintings. LAUNCH OF THAYER STREET OUTDOOR CONCERT SERIES

Why Go: JazzBoston has teamed up with SOWA Artists Guild (the folks behind First Fridays) to launch a series of jazz concerts/art exhibits running each Saturday through October. This week’s concert features improv jazz ensemble, Your Neighborhood Saxophone Quartet.
