On Wednesday, February 13, 2013, Lovin’ Spoonfuls and Roxy’s Gourmet Grilled Cheese teamed up to provide a bit of early Valentine’s Day “lovin’” to the guests of Rosie’s Place. Ashley Stanley, founder and executive director of Lovin’ Spoonfuls and James DiSabatino, owner of Roxy’s Grilled Cheese served a surprise hot lunch of tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches to about 150 women and children in Rosie’s Place’s dining room for its daily lunch. Rosie’s Place, a sanctuary for poor and homeless women, prides themselves that the dining room is considered the hub and heart of the organization that offers services like daily meals, a choice groceries program, emergency short-term housing, education to improve skills and self-sufficiency and advocates who help the women find permanent solutions to the challenges they face.
