Local Artist Paints Mural on former Herald building at Ink Block Construction Site in South End
Local artist, Cyrille Conan, painted a mural at the site of the future Ink Block development in the South End this past weekend to build buzz around the project and encourage people to “Think Ink.”
Conan, who lived in the South End for nearly a decade, has had his work on display in buildings and galleries in Boston. Laura Crosta, award winning photographer and documentarian, also filmed the painting of the mural.
Designed to reimagine the former Boston Herald site, National Development’s Ink Block will feature over 400 units of rental housing in four buildings and 85,000 s.f. of retail space including a flagship Whole Foods. Ink Block will enliven the street with trend-setting restaurants, exciting shops and entertainment options. The building, which attracted attention recently for its large rooftop “Think Ink” sign, is scheduled to be demolished in late March.
